‘Oculus’ – one of the scariest movies you’ll see this year – opens in theaters this Friday and to help get you excited, we have Part 2 of our interview with star Karen Gillan. We met with Gillan shortly after the film’s premiere at SXSW to talk a little bit more about the movie. Here, Gillan starts off explaining what she saw in ‘Oculus’ – a horror movie that actually feels new and exciting.
Quentin Tarantinofamously shelved his upcoming project 'The Hateful Eight' after an early draft of the script leaked online (he would later sue the web site Gawker for publishing a download link). Fans were left disappointed knowing that an upcoming Tarantino film would never come to fruition, but now they take solace in knowing that Tarantino will direct 'The Hateful Eight' after all!... As part of a one-night-only live reading in Los Angeles.
While most of us don't have an idea what Marvel Studios is planning beyond 2016 (and, let's be honest, there's a whole cottage industry built around speculating what those future titles are), but Marvel knows exactly what they're doing. In fact, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has a map in his office that plots out the next 15 years of Marvel movies, all the way to 2028.
It is a weird distinction that the impossibly perky and polite Karen Gillan is the star of the scariest movie of the year, 'Oculus'. In the film, she plays a young woman determined to crack - both literally and figuratively - the mystery behind an evil mirror that has haunted her family. Her red hair pulled back in a ponytail (which bounces hypnotically to and fro as if it were itself possessed) that's as tight as her personality.
After what seems like endless Instagram teasers, the final 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' trailer is finally here. Luckily, the film has dispensed with the teasing and this new trailer finally gives up the goods: lots of mutant superhero battles.
'Star Wars: Episode 7' has been quietly casting now for what feels like years and still, the only real confirmed role we have is Adam Driver, who will play the film's villain. We know we're going to be introduced to a new era of Jedis, but who is actually going to play the new hero? Let's get ourselves updated and acquainted with the actors at the top of J.J. Abrams' list.
'Transformers 4' is not a reboot, but it has done away with the human cast you may have been familiar with after the first three movies. Taking over for Shia LaBeouf is Mark Wahlberg, who's role in this movie is to be the father of a really beautiful girl (Nicola Peltz, taking over for Megan Fox). Presumably he has something else to do because in this new 'Transformers 4' poster, he's got a really, really big alien gun. And he's ready to use it.
While there were a lot of tight races at the 2014 Oscars, Best Actor wasn't one of them. Matthew McConaughey, the odds-on favorite and Golden Globe winner, won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in 'Dallas Buyers Club' and that's alright, alight, alright with us.
