'Elysium' is about to launch its first wave of marketing, positioning itself as one of the must see films of the summer. We covered the footage presentation from yesterday, but now there's a trailer for the Neill Blomkamp-directed film starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley.

And if you had any worries about Blomkamp transitioning from making low-budget science fiction to big budget summer extravaganzas, have no fear, as this looks big and smart and well designed. The film is set in 2154, where the richest humans have moved to Elysium, and live peaceful lives there with all the latest technologies. Back on Earth, everyone else is struggling to get by, and it's there where Damon's Max is involved in an accident that has him scrambling to get to Elysium.

In his way are Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley, and their jobs are as administrator and assassin, respectively. But Damon's character has an advantage in that he gets equipped with a mechanized skeleton, which allows him to fight the robots that police the land.

Not only does this look big and action-packed, it looks like it's got more brains that a month's worth of normal summer movies. And if you weren't excited for this movie before, you should be now. 'Elysium' opens August 9.
