It's been a while since we've heard anything from the third season of TNT's alien thriller 'Falling Skies,' most likely airing this coming summer. The second season left fans of the Spielberg-produced drama on quite a cliffhanger for a number of characters, most especially with the arrival of another mysterious alien race of unknown intent, but what do we know about the third season? Get the latest scoop on the new characters and aliens of 'Falling Skies' season 3 inside!

TNT's summer line-up will no doubt see the return of post-apocalyptic invasion drama 'Falling Skies,' opening up a new chapter in the epic war between the remnants of humankind and the insect-like Skitters and their overlords. Season 2 finale "A More Perfect Union" even expanded on that premise, at the last moment introducing a new race of aliens, to be played in the coming season by noted actor actor and movement specialist Doug Jones, but what more do we know of his character?

Collider managed to catch up with series star Drew Roy (Hal Mason) to get the scoop on 'Falling Skies' season 3, wherein Roy described the process of working with Jones (‘Hellboy,’ ‘The Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer’) in costume and motion capture, as well as his own character's arc in the coming season. Filming has since wrapped on the show's third-run, but Roy also had plenty of insight into the tone 'Falling Skies' will take this time around, as things quickly deteriorate for the 2nd Massachusetts after living in a place of comfort.

In addition to former '7th Heaven star Stephen Collins' upcoming appearance as the surviving U.S. President Benjamin Hathaway, the third season of TNT’s alien actioner also boasts former ‘House‘ star Robert Sean Wilson as previously unseen Charleston power-grid moderator Dr. Roger “The Rat King” Kadar, and Noah Wyle’s former ‘E.R.’ co-star Gloria Reuben as Marina Perlata, member of the resistance and aide to Tom Mason.

Take a look at what Roy had to say about 'Falling Skies' season 3 in the video below, and tell us what you most want to see from the upcoming season in the comments!
