Today would have been the 'King of Rock and Roll's 80th birthday!

Elvis Aaron Presley was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. Few people know that Elvis was a twin. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953.

Commemorations and proclamations were held at Graceland to mark Elvis's birthday and the celebration of the beginning of the legend 60 years ago.

Events included:

Special guests Knox Phillips and Wink Martindale helped cut the cake as the 60 Years of Rock ‘n’ Roll celebration kicked off at Graceland. Also, surprise guest TODAY Show's Jenna Bush joined YouTube's "Blue Christmas" star David Thibault in singing the king "Happy Birthday." Don't miss her exclusive story on the #HappyBirthdayElvis celebration and the 16-year-old singing sensation, airing this week on the TODAY Show.
