Last night was the radio station’s Christmas party but I had to duck out for a few minutes for some very important business that had to do with...space travel. No I’m not Dr. Who or Capt. Kirk, I’m a sky watcher, and I knew that the International Space Station (ISS) would be making a flyover West Texas at exactly 6:25PM.

Using the iPhone app Star Walk, it was easy to spot the ISS below the horizon then follow it as it traversed the sky. From beginning to end, it took around two minutes, but it was great! The ISS was as bright as Jupiter, which it the brightest it will be again until 2021. It was so bright, I was able to snap a shot of it with my iPhone. (Pictured above) The ISS is the dot near the middle, the dot to the lower left is Jupiter.
