Jennifer Lawrence Throws Party to Benefit Little Girl With Leukemia
The Lawrence family must be full of big hearts! Jennifer Lawrence and her brother Ben threw a block party to help out a little girl with her recovery from a tough battle against leukemia.
According to 14news.com, Hadley Mercer is from the actress’ hometown of Louisville, Ky., where she lives with her parents and two older sisters. At just six months old, Hadley was diagnosed with leukemia, and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a bone marrow transplant. The good news is that Hadley recently celebrated her first birthday — in remission!
Though her fight with cancer is over, she’s still in the hospital dealing with complications from the bone marrow transplant. In honor of Hadley, and to help her parents pay their medical bills, J. Law and her brother Ben threw a block party on June 21 to help raise money for the family.
Ben helped organize the party through the company he co-owns, Louisville Geek. He revealed there were several goodies set up for auction, including ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘American Hustle’ memorabilia signed by his sister, and a trip to a private island in Belize arranged by Jennifer.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star, who also visited Hadley in the hospital, seems to have a soft spot for the little girl. Way to be a sweetheart, Jennifer!
We’re wishing Hadley and her family all the best.
