'Monster High,' a line of Mattel dolls featuring the teenage children of famous monsters, is coming to the big screen -- and it will be written and produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the masterminds behind 'The O.C.' and 'Gossip Girl.'

Schwartz and Savage, who clearly know their teen audience, are creating the live-action film based on the set of toys, which has characters such as Frankenstein's daughter Frankie Stein, Dracula's daughter Draculaura, and Clawdeen Wolf, daughter of the Wolfman.

If 'Monster High' sounds familiar, that's because it is. The line, which came out in 2010, has already spawned a series of young adult novels, Nickelodeon TV shows, a direct-to-video DVD, and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has even surpassed Barbie as Mattel's highest-grossing line of products.

No doubt Schwartz and Savage's version will be just as successful.
