News Anchor Proposes Live On-Air
Thank God this worked out — if it hadn’t, it could have resulted in some serious dead air!
In this clip, news anchor Mark Rivera asks his girlfriend (another reporter) to marry him on live television, and without hesitation (or even a glance at the ring) she gleefully accepts.
In the movies, this is usually how it ends, with a big kiss. However, on live television we;re able to witness what occurs just after the biggest moment of their lives: a heavy “what now” feeling, along with a sudden realization that all of America is watching. But being the professional he is, Rivera handled the situation with a steadiness that would make what’s left of Matt Lauer’s hair shiver right off. “We’ll be right back!”
