Over the summer we got our first look at 'Battlestar Galactica' creator Ron Moore's return to Syfy with the announcement of virology drama 'Helix,' though at the time no footage or photos of the dark new series were available. Finally, the virus has begun to spread as Syfy's 'Helix' has leaked out in the first disgusting photographs!

Starring 'The Killing' vet Billy Campbell, ‘Helix’ will follow the leading role of Dr. Alan Farragut, an emotionally troubled CDC pathologist. Farragut has recently endured and continues to get over a failed marriage, wherein his wife had an affair with his brother, the same brother who now needs his help after becoming infected with a deadly disease.

Produced by Sony Pictures TV, directed by David Slade (‘Hannibal,’ ‘Breaking Bad‘) and written by Cameron Porsandeh, Moore’s ‘Helix’ generally follows a team of scientists investigating a possible disease outbreak at an Arctic research facility who find themselves trying to protect the world from annihilation. Under showrunner Steven Maeda (‘LOST,’ ‘CSI: Miami’) the series began production this summer.

The Syfy drama also stars Hiroyuki Sanada ('The Wolverine,' 'LOST') as the mastermind in charge of the top-secret arctic research, along with Kyra Zagorsky as Walker, Faragut's estranged wife.

The Hollywood Reporter snagged the first images of the new series, set for debut in 2014, so gird your stomach as you get a first taste of Ron Moore's Syfy return 'Helix' below!
