Having the opportunity to do something you enjoy is a great way to spend the weekend. Sharing that enjoyment is as equally rewarding.

There is nothing I like better than a day at the range. For me, it’s a way to hone my skills and also relax and wipe away the week’s troubles. This weekend I had the privilege and opportunity to be a ‘Guest Instructor’ for two of Tactical Response Resources concealed handgun license (CHL) classes. I met Dennis and Michael, the instructors, a few years ago when I started doing a personal defense, pro-2nd Amendment podcast called ‘Citizen Armed’. They know their stuff.

This weekend we and about 35 students, went out to their private range in Midland County. This day, I shot more pictures than targets. I also had the opportunity to help some folks learn how to shoot a handgun who had never even picked one up before. I love to shoot, but teaching someone how to learn a new skill, is just as rewarding. These students were learning what real ‘gun-control’ is: Hitting their target. In less than an hour on the range, the few folks who had never fired a shot from a handgun, were hitting their targets consistently and accurately.

In the next few days and weeks, I’ll be telling you more about my sport and some things you should consider before you purchase a handgun, what to do to prepare for your CHL class and continuing your education in the shooting sports.

FYI: If you are a teacher and you want to learn how to use a firearm or get your CHL, Tactical Response Resources offers you a discount on their experienced, handgun training.

Thanks to Carol Ramirez who shot these great photos of us at the range.
