SNL Presents a Hilarious ‘Game of Thrones’ Trivia Show
SNL has made fun of ‘Game of Thrones‘ before, but with the third season of HBO’s fantasy series reaching all time high ratings, it was certainly time for a revisit. However, the target this time isn’t the show itself, but rather the fans. Check it out below.
The sketch, like so many SNL scenes, takes place at a game show. However, this isn’t an ordinary game show: it’s “Game of Game of Thrones,’ a trivia show where fans of the show and books compete against one another. Bill Hader plays OJ Sampson, the host with a regrettable name, and Zach Galifianakis plays a contestant wearing a regrettable dragon costume. While the rest of the panel effortlessly answers questions about Westeros lore, Galifianakis keeps getting stuck with questions pertaining to real world (“What is a Roth IRA?”). There’s plenty to love here if you’re a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan, but it reaches its apex when Jaime Lannister himself (AKA, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) shows up for a surprise appearance.
SNL tends to retreat to the “fake game show” well an awful lot, but we wouldn’t mind if they were all this funny and surprising.
