Kim Powell from NewsWest 9 posted a story yesterday reporting that there have been over 100 break-ins and robberies just in Midland since January. This morning I went over some easy things you can do to protect yourself and your home.

In her story, NewsWest 9's Kim Powell said that more people were setting up  surveillance cameras to protect their homes for break-in. Those surveillance cameras are a good step with the goal to make thieves bypass your house altogether.

But, surveillance cameras won't help you while you're out shopping. In the video I give you some common sense tips to help protect yourself and your family.

What I didn't include in the video, was advice for people with window stickers on their vehicles. Don't advertise what you have in your vehicle (guns) and make it tempting for thieves.

What have you done to protect your home?
