In the past couple weeks, we've been privy to some exciting casting news regarding Marc Webb's 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2', which included Jamie Foxx jumping aboard as the villainous Electro and Dane DeHaan taking on the role of Harry Osborn. The new duo joins Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, naturally, but it turns out that they aren't the only ones coming back for Round 2.

According to the one and only Martin Sheen, Uncle Ben Parker will return from the grave in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'!

Okay, maybe that's phrasing it incorrectly. But the fact is, Sheen himself confirmed to RTE's The Late Late Show that he's involved with the sequel, saying, "Well they called me back. I don't know what the part is going to be, but I'm going to be Uncle Ben in 'Spider-Man' once again next year. We shoot it in February."

Sheen's performance in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' was more or less perfect for the beloved character, so his involvement in the second one can be considered nothing but a good thing. It's also not necessarily surprising; Peter Parker's life as Spider-Man was spurred on by the death of Uncle Ben, and it figures that, even though Ben isn't around anymore in a tangible sense, his sage words of advice will play on in Peter's head for years to come. (After all, Cliff Robertson made appearances in all three films in Sam Raimi's original Spidey trilogy.)

We'll see just how Uncle Ben figures in to the further adventures of Spider-Man when 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is released on May 2, 2014.
