You had them on your bedroom walls and you swooned every time you popped their movies in the VCR or tuned in to their TV shows each week. But where did your favorite ’90s teen heartthrobs go when you grew up? Read on to see your faves — then and now.
THEN: Jonathan Taylor Thomas made our little hearts swoon with delight as middle child Randy Taylor on the sitcom ‘Home Improvement.’ He was also the voice of Simba in ‘The Lion King.’
NOW: JTT (don’t act like you never called him that) still acts here and there, and recently reunited with his ‘Home Improvement’ co-star Tim Allen on the TV show ‘Last Man Standing.’
THEN: Devon Sawa was everywhere, it seemed, starring in movies like ‘Casper,’ ‘Now and Then,’ ‘Little Giants,’ and ‘Wild America.’ The blonde-haired, blue-eyed Canadian cutie always played a heart-stealer.
NOW: Sawa kept on acting, popping up in movies like ‘Idle Hands’ and ‘SLC Punk.’ Today he stars on the CW series ‘Nikita.’
THEN: Andrew Keegan starred in ‘Camp Nowhere’ and made guest appearances on shows like ‘Full House,’ ‘Boy Meets World,’ and ‘Step by Step.’ But he’s probably best known for his role as jerk-face Joey in ’10 Things I Hate About You.’
NOW: He’s made a couple of appearances on ‘CSI’ and starred in some direct-to-video movies, though he’s not acting nearly as much as he used to.
THEN: Rider Strong played bad boy Shawn on the ABC TV series ‘Boy Meets World.’ He also made appearances on ‘Empty Nest,’ ‘Home Improvement,’ and ‘Party of Five.’
NOW: Strong continues to act, starring in films like ‘Cabin Fever,’ and more recently has starred, written, and directed some short films. But you’ll him again on the small screen soon — he’ll be in ‘Girl Meets World,’ the ‘Boy Meets World’ sequel series.
THEN: Mark-Paul Gosselaar was Zack Morris, the mischievous guy everyone wanted to date on ‘Saved by the Bell.’
NOW: Gosselaar went on to star in some made-for-TV movies before getting back into television proper, and currently stars on the TNT series ‘Franklin and Bash.’
THEN: Jonathan Jackson (and his mullet) starred in ‘Camp Nowhere’ with Andrew Keegan, but most women know him best for his role as Lucky Spencer on ‘General Hospital.’
NOW: Jackson reprised his role on ‘General Hospital’ from 2009 to 2011, and currently stars on the musical TV drama ‘Nashville.’
THEN: James Van Der Beek played Dawson Leery on the WB teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek.’
NOW: Van Der Beek changed the way people viewed him by starring in the black comedy/drama ‘The Rules of Attraction.’ More recently he played himself on the now-cancelled ABC sitcom ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23.’
THEN: Ben Savage, younger sibling of ‘The Wonder Years’ star Fred, was Corey Matthews on the hit ABC series ‘Boy Meets World.’
NOW: Savage went on to make appearances on ‘Chuck,’ ‘Without a Trace,’ and ‘Bones,’ and he’ll be reprising his role as Corey Matthews in the upcoming TV series ‘Girl Meets World.’
THEN: Joshua Jackson played Dawson’s BFF Pacey on the WB teen drama ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ and as a child he stole our hearts on the ice rink in ‘The Mighty Ducks’ movies.
NOW: Jackson never stopped acting, and most recently starred on the Fox sci-fi drama ‘Fringe,’ which just ended after five seasons.
THEN: Jared Leto broke Claire Danes’ heart (and ours) as Jordan Catalano on the criminally short-lived series ‘My So-Called Life.’ All Angela (and we) wanted was for him to love her (us)!
NOW: Leto continued acting with parts in films like ‘Requiem for a Dream,’ ‘Girl, Interrupted,’ and ‘Pre-Fontaine.’ He also recently lost a shocking amount of weight to appear in the upcoming movie ‘Dallas Buyers Club.’ In addition, Leto has fulfilled Jordan Catalano’s musical destiny — he’s the lead singer for rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.
