There are times when we have to take the radio station dark, so it won't be dangerous to work on; today was one of those times.

Today we had a tower crew in to take down the antenna on our transmitter. To do this, we had to turn the power off to the transmitter and 'go dark' for a few hours. I'm always fascinated that there are people who are willing to work hundreds of feet in the air. I am not someone who would make that career choice.

There is the obvious danger of the height, exposure to the sun and wind and very heavy parts moving up and down the line. Despite this, they were able to get us back on the air (low power) and are working to repair our main antenna to get us back up to full power in a few days.

What job would you NEVER do?
